The soul of a woodworkers tool kit is the hand plane. Learn the process of making, and tuning a Krenov style wooden smoothing plane. From choosing the wood for the body to the type of cutting iron; from cutting and assembling the body to shaping and tuning the throat, this class will guide you through the entire assembly and tuning process. We will also discuss planes for shaping and joining. By the end of class each student will have made their own small smoothing plane, and know how to keep it in tune so that it will take fluffy shavings. |
