Dining
Over the past ten years Portland’s dining landscape has experienced an amazing surge of new growth, new talent, and great new restaurants. There is now a variety of food options that few cities in the country can match. From Thai street food to Tapas to regional Northwest Cuisine to incredible food carts that dot the street corners, Portland is now nationally known as the West Coast’s, if not the country’s, best place to eat out.
If one could live on bread alone, then the variety of artisan local bakeries making fresh breads and pastries would sustain you for a lifetime. Pearl Bakery offers a chocolate panini that should be illegal it’s so good. Grand Central Baking bakes incredible country style breads and scones, jammers, and cinammon rolls. Ken’s Artisan Bakery and Ken’s Artisan Pizza turn dough into an art.
Beer and coffee are two other local treasures. Too many craft breweries to mention dot the Portland landscape. From the now hallowed Widmer Brothers Brewing to Bridgeport Brewing to smaller brewpubs like Lucky Lab and Amnesia Brewing, Portland has a beer for you. McMenamin’s has transformed the Northwest brewpub scene with dozens of reclaimed properties whose atmosphere rivals their selection of brews.
